2. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Ikiguru. By accessing, downloading, installing, registering for, or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Children's Privacy Notice (where applicable), and all other policies referenced here, each as updated from time to time.
If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.
If you are under 18 years of age, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has read, understood, and accepted these Terms on your behalf, in addition to providing verifiable consent under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Eligibility
The Platform is designed for students in India and is primarily intended for users between 13 and 18 years of age. By using the Platform you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years of age.
- If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consented to your use of the Platform and to the processing of your personal data, in accordance with the Privacy Policy and the DPDP Act.
- You are competent to enter into a binding agreement under the Indian Contract Act, 1872, either personally or through your parent or legal guardian (where you are a minor).
- You will provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and will keep it updated.
- You have not been previously suspended or removed from the Platform.
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that do not meet these eligibility requirements.
4. The Service
Ikiguru provides general career information, educational guidance, and decision-support resources for Indian students, including:
- Information about careers, academic streams, entrance examinations, degrees, and colleges.
- Comparison and exploration tools to help students understand their options.
- Curated content and reference material.
Ikiguru may, from time to time, add new features (including, in future releases, AI-powered features such as the "Counsellor AI"), modify existing features, or remove features, in each case at our discretion and on reasonable notice where the change is material.
Ikiguru may, in future, offer paid subscriptions or premium features. When such features become available, they will be governed by additional terms, including pricing, billing, subscription, refund, and cancellation terms, which will be made available at the point of purchase and form part of these Terms by reference.
5. Your Account
Certain features of the Platform require you to create an account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, including any one-time passwords sent to you or to your parent or guardian.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Promptly notifying us at hello@ikiguru.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account or any breach of security.
You agree not to (i) share your account with another person, (ii) create more than one account, or (iii) create an account using another person's identity.
We may verify your identity, age, or parental consent at any time and may suspend access until verification is satisfactorily completed.
6. Parental and Guardian Consent (Users Under 18)
If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must give verifiable consent before you can use the Platform. The Privacy Policy and the Children's Privacy Notice describe how this works in detail. By proceeding through the parental consent flow, the parent or guardian:
- Confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Children's Privacy Notice on behalf of the student.
- Authorises Ikiguru to process the student's personal data for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy.
- Acknowledges that they can withdraw consent or request deletion of the student's data at any time.
A parent or guardian may, at any time, request to access, correct, or delete a student's data, or close the student's account, by writing to hello@ikiguru.com.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- Submit any information that is false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or unlawful.
- Use the Platform for any purpose that is unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or harassing.
- Access, scrape, copy, reproduce, or otherwise extract content from the Platform other than for your personal, non-commercial use.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Platform.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Platform, including its servers, networks, or security features, or attempt to circumvent any access controls.
- Use the Platform to develop a competing product or service, or to train any machine learning or AI model.
- Attempt to access another user's account, data, or any non-public part of the Platform.
- Submit content that contains personal contact information of yourself or others (such as phone numbers, email addresses, or social media handles) in places not designed for that purpose.
- Use the Platform in any manner that violates applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the DPDP Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, or any guideline issued under them.
We may, in our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your account, remove content, restrict your access, or take any other action we consider appropriate (including reporting to law enforcement) if we believe you have breached this Section 7.
8. AI-Powered Features
Ikiguru may, from time to time, make available AI-powered features (including, in future releases, an AI assistant referred to as the "Counsellor AI"). This Section 8 sets out the terms that apply whenever you use any such AI feature.
By using any AI feature offered by Ikiguru, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The feature is an artificial intelligence system, not a human counsellor, mentor, doctor, lawyer, or licensed professional.
- Responses generated by the AI feature may be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date, or otherwise unsuitable for your specific situation, and should be independently verified.
- The AI feature must not be relied on for medical, psychological, legal, financial, or emergency advice. If you are in distress or facing an emergency, please contact a parent, teacher, qualified professional, or the nearest emergency services.
- The AI feature does not replace qualified human career counsellors, teachers, or parents.
- Your prompts and limited profile context may be sent to third-party AI processing partners (described in the Privacy Policy) in order to generate a response.
- You will not use the AI feature to generate content that is unlawful, abusive, sexually explicit, hateful, or that attempts to extract personal data about another person.
- You will not represent any AI response as professional advice or as the official position of any institution.
AI features are not enabled by default and require your separate, specific consent (and parental or guardian consent, where you are under 18) before activation.
We provide any AI feature on an "as-is" basis and disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, any warranty regarding its accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
9. Paid Features and Subscriptions (Future)
Ikiguru does not currently offer any paid features or subscriptions. If and when paid features become available, separate terms (covering pricing, billing, auto-renewal, payment processing, cancellation, and refunds) will be presented to you at the point of purchase and will form part of these Terms. You will not be charged any amount without your separate, explicit consent.
10. Disclaimers
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. Ikiguru provides general career, academic, and educational information and decision-support resources. The content on the Platform:
- Is informational in nature and is intended to support — not replace — personal research, professional advice, and discussion with your parents, teachers, or qualified counsellors.
- Does not constitute professional career counselling, academic advising, psychological guidance, medical advice, legal advice, or financial advice.
- May not reflect the most recent changes to examination patterns, dates, cut-offs, eligibility criteria, or admission policies, all of which are subject to change by the relevant authority.
- Should be independently verified from official sources (such as the National Testing Agency, university websites, or government education portals) before making any significant academic, financial, or career decision.
Additional disclaimers applicable to specific content categories (career content, educational content, and AI-generated content) are set out in our Disclaimers page, which is part of these Terms by reference.
The Platform and all content on it are provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including career descriptions, stream guides, exam information, degree information, college information, articles, text, graphics, logos, icons, design elements, software, and the look and feel of the Platform — is the intellectual property of Ikiguru or its licensors, and is protected by Indian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Ikiguru grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, distribute, modify, publish, reproduce, sublicense, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our prior written permission, except where expressly permitted by these Terms or by applicable law.

12. Content You Submit
When you submit information to the Platform (such as queries, support tickets, feedback, or messages to the Counsellor AI), you grant Ikiguru a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, store, process, and reproduce that content solely for the purposes of operating, improving, supporting, and securing the Platform, and as further described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the content you submit. You confirm that any content you submit is accurate, lawful, does not infringe any third-party rights, and does not include personal data of any other person without their consent.
13. Third-Party Links, Apps, and Information
The Platform may reference or link to third-party websites, applications, institutions, or examination bodies. These are provided for your convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability, content, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of any third-party website or service is at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms.
14. Accuracy of Information
While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of content on the Platform, we cannot guarantee that all information is current, complete, or error-free. Examination patterns, dates, cut-offs, eligibility criteria, and college information change frequently. Always verify critical information from official sources before relying on it.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Ikiguru and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any career, academic, financial, or other decision made by you based on information from the Platform.
- Ikiguru shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform.
- Ikiguru shall not be liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the content; for any unauthorised access to or alteration of your data; or for any conduct of any third party on the Platform.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) Indian Rupees one thousand (₹1,000).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Indian law (including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or liability under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019).
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ikiguru, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with (i) your breach of these Terms, (ii) your misuse of the Platform, (iii) your violation of any law or of any third party's rights, or (iv) any content you submit to the Platform.
17. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Platform, with or without notice, if:
- You breach these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or any other policy referenced here.
- Your account shows signs of fraudulent, unlawful, or harmful activity.
- We are required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or request from a competent authority.
- Continuing to provide the Platform to you is no longer commercially or technically feasible.
You may close your account at any time from within the App or by writing to hello@ikiguru.com. Upon closure:
- If, in future, you hold any paid feature or subscription on your account, separate terms made available at the point of purchase will govern refunds, pro-rata adjustments, and the consequences of termination for that paid feature.
- Your personal data will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy, including the data retention rules described there.
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, in the Platform, or in applicable law. When we do, we will:
- Revise the "Effective Date" and "Last Updated" date at the top.
- Notify registered users by email or in-App notification.
- Where the change is material (for example, a change that affects your rights or obligations), seek your renewed acceptance before the change applies to you.
Continued use of the Platform after the Effective Date of an update means you accept the updated Terms.
19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Subject to any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, you and Ikiguru agree that the courts of competent jurisdiction at Gurgaon, Haryana, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim, or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or, if no such modification is possible, shall be severed from these Terms without affecting the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Children's Privacy Notice, and any other policies or notices referenced here or on the Platform (including, if and when offered, terms governing paid features), constitute the entire agreement between you and Ikiguru with respect to the Platform and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings.
